The Weekend Report: 7/16–7/18

So there’s this blog that I reli­giously fol­low — an ex-wedding blog turned design and pho­tog­ra­phy blog with a mid­cen­tury mod­ern desert theme, for chris­sakes, a desert fete is sortofkind­ofevery­thing I want in my life right now. Jamie has a mini series tagged week­end, and it’s basi­cally pho­tos from her, whataya­know, week­ends. Her week­ends are filled with desert foliage, bertoia chairs, and ori­en­tal siamese cats. Not only is it beau­ti­ful, but it’s inspir­ing — it makes me go out and do stuff instead of play­ing Sims 3 all weekend.

So. I’m start­ing a week­end report too. Because 1) it’ll remind me to do those pesky out-nom posts and 2) my toy cam­era fleet is start­ing to col­lect dust.

This week­end, we went down to Don’s family’s in San Diego to cel­e­brate his brother’s birth­day. It was really hot. So hot that we couldn’t really sleep through­out the week­end.
We went to Yakyu­dori 2 to try their ramen. I’ll post on that later in the week, but first, I wanted to show you the bigass beer Don ordered. 33 oz of tap Sap­poro for 8 bucks. He drank it all, and then some.
On the way to our favorite bur­rito place, Don took an alter­nate route and showed me the desert-y side of his town because he thought that I’d like it. I did. It was vast and empty and fire-inviting in all its glory.
When we got home on Sun­day, we ran some errands, ate some fried rice, and PTFO’d. Very pro­duc­tive, indeed.
